Up for sale here is a shirt from the 11.11 label. 11.11 have been getting a higher level of exposure lately with growing international distribution. They are an India-based label and distinguish themselves with a very high level of hand detailing and a pretty much unbeatable quality level.
This is a woven cotton plaid shirt, but not quite like any plaid shirt you may have experienced. Fabric is entirely handwoven, made from handspun yarns on traditional looms. It has an amazing depth of character to the fabric, where you can clearly see all of the individual yarns woven together. The fabric is pleasantly uneven throughout, embodying the character of a handmade garment. It is also pretty light weight and breathable and in a relaxed fit, reflective of the Indian environment and ideal for warmer weather.
No corners are cut in the detailing either. There are a number of other hand embellishments here, including a hand-woven top button and a heart detail on the bottom-left side of the shirt. Buttons are all horn, there is an open collar and flat hem. Pattern is also pretty unique where there are no shoulder or sleeve seams. The seams come at the center of the back and on the sides, making for a piece that is easily worn and can fit a wide range of sizes.
Given the handmade nature of their products, 11.11 produces in limited quantities with limited (but growing) distribution. These shirts retail at about $250 and are well worth it, but get it here even more reasonably.
Size is labeled a large and fits true if somewhat relaxed. I measure the chest at 23”, shoulders at approx. 20” and length at 28”. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in India.
