Up for sale here is a jacket from 45 rpm. 45 rpm is well regarded for their emphasis on top quality materials and detailing. They are one of the earliest “American casual” labels to come out of Japan and are still going strong. They’re also somewhat unique in that their products are only available directly from their shops. Retail prices are sky high, but you can be sure you are getting a very high quality product for those high prices.
45 rpm’s use of quality materials and attention to detail are on full display here. Silhouette is based on the classic 1970s “safari” jacket, although tweaked quite a bit with materials and silhouette. Fabric is a cotton ripstop. If you look closely you can see the fabric woven in a sort of grid pattern. This is a military style fabric, which as the name implies is intended to stop rips. Aside from giving the fabric a unique look and texture it is also highly practical. Color is purple with two chest and two side pockets, all of them buttoned. Cuffs are also buttoned, with the left cuff featuring an embroidered “&” logo.
As always with 45 rpm, these jackets were produced in very limited quantities and are now totally sold out. They retailed at about $600 outside of Japan, although you can get it here much more reasonably.
Size is labeled a 4 and fits a standard large well. I measure the chest at 22”, shoulders at 19”, length at 29” and sleeves at 24.5” from the shoulder. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape. There is a bit of wear on the neckline, but otherwise no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
