Up for sale here is a shirt from 45 rpm. 45 rpm is perhaps best known for their high quality materials, attention to detail, and of course their indigo products. Production is always in small batches, and their pieces are only available direct from their shops. This shirt is a great example of what 45 rpm is capable of, coming in an excellent light weight indigo-dyed denim. The natural indigo 45 rpm uses gives the shirt a pleasantly uneven color, one that will gradually fade according to how it is worn. That’s part of the fun of these kinds of indigo pieces, seeing how they evolve.
This is a somewhat older piece, with the dye artfully faded. This is probably the main appeal of the shirt, where you often have to put in this kind of work over a long period of time to get the shirt to look like this. Here the work has been done for you. Aside from the dye, the usual attention to detail is here. All buttons are snap except for the top one, while the left chest pocket button has a different pattern to it. Left chest pocket also has their signature embroidered “R” logo. Neck tag is also embroidered and indigo dyed. There is some additional artful stitching in red on the collar and orange on the cuffs. Interior of the shirt is lined in the shoulders in a nicely contrasting floral patterned cotton. These shirts retail in the $300 range in Japan and about $500 in the US and Europe. Size is labeled a 5 and fits a large or an extra large, depending on how you like the fit. I measure the chest at 24”, shoulders at 20”, length at 29.5”, and sleeves at 26” from the shoulder. The shirt comes in used, generally good shape. There is some fading of the indigo as you can see, and the bottom seam is loose on the interior floral lining. This is no way affects the functionality of the shirt and is not noticeable, but I note it in the interest of full disclosure. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
