Barena nepenthes brown cotton pants, made in Italy, size 50 (fits 34)

$44.99 / Sold Out

For sale here is a pair of pants from the Barena label. Barena goes back to the early 1960s, where they have produced almost exclusively in Venice and have continually pursued a traditional Italian look. It’s something equally modern and heritage, where are carried by the likes of Mr. Porter on the one hand, and are distributed in Japan by the Nepenthes company (the same people responsible for Needles and Engineered Garments) on the other.

These pants aim squarely for classic Italian tailoring, executed in a light summer weight. Fabric is a 97% cotton, 3% elastane blend in a nice shade of brown. This is a straight leg fit, one that is on the somewhat loose side and ideal for the warmer weather. You can move around easily and will in no way be constricted. The addition of the elastane adds just a bit of stretch, ensuring an even more comfortable fit.

Like most Barena, the pants are somewhat traditional in design and are nondescript, but at the same time have some excellent tailoring and materials. Front has a button fly using horn buttons, pockets are tonal matching the color of the pants, there is an adjusting button on the back side of the waistband, and some darting toward the bottom of the legs on the front. Retail is around $300 on these. Get them here much more reasonably.

Size is labeled a 50. I measure the waist at 34” / 90cm, inseam at 31” / 79cm, rise at 11.5” / 29.5cm and opening at the bottom of the leg at 9.75” / 25cm. The pants come in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Italy.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
