For sale here is a jacket from Beams Plus, one of a number of labels run by the Beams company. Beams is actually a “select” boutique style shop that operates out of Japan that initially sold other designer’s pieces, although in recent years it has launched a variety of its own labels. All Beams brands are sold exclusively through their own shops in Japan, although with the Beams Plus label in particular they’ve been getting some distribution abroad in other stores.
The Beams Plus label tends to skew pretty strongly toward vintage work and military wear for its inspiration, although they do tend to incorporate their own little details as well. Designs go for the subtle and more sophisticated, rather than loud branding or prints. You won’t find any big labels or that sort of thing with Beams Plus. Rather, the emphasis is very much on quality materials and craftsmanship.
In this case we have Beams Plus’ take on the ranch jacket. Exterior is a 70% polyester / 30% wool blend, while the interior is a dark gray polyester fleece. Exterior fabric is a sort of dobby fabric, highly textured and similar to a corduroy just without having the wales so developed. Between the heavy exterior and fleeced interior this is a pretty warm jacket, ideal for the colder weather.
Lots of interesting details incorporated here as well. Front includes two sets of pockets, both of which are lined in fleece for extra warmth and comfort. Buttons are all substantial and have subtle branding on the sides. Side pockets each have leather reinforcements, and there are some additional leather pulls toward the top of the button placket.
As you can hopefully see, a fair amount of detail has gone into this jacket. Everything is well considered and executed at a very high level of quality. These pieces were of course produced in limited quantities with limited availability even in Japan. Get it here in excellent shape at a fraction of the retail price.
Size is labeled a small and fits true. I measure the chest at 20” / 52cm, shoulders at 16” / 41cm, length at 29” / 72cm from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 25” / 64cm. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains.
