Engineered Garments cardigan for sale here. Engineered Garments, designed by Daiki Suzuki and under the umbrella of Japanese company Nepenthes, manufactures their products exclusively in the United States, and almost entirely in New York City. They aim to utilize some of the high quality materials and services available in the city and keep their factories going. One of their other main ideals is to update classic workwear pieces with a more modern approach. That’s often manifested in high quality materials, and sometimes more fashion-forward designs as well.
This is a pretty unique piece from one of the more recent EG collections (fall-winter 2022). Material is a 73% polyester, 27% wool fleece, done in a sort of thick shag. The thick weave gives the cardigan excellent heat retention properties, making it an ideal mid layer for cold winter days (although it can also easily be worn as an outer layer if you prefer). Engineered Garments is always very particular about the fabrics they use and this sweater definitely does not disappoint in that regard.
The other unique factor in this sweater is the fit. Like a lot of more recent EG, the fit here is quite relaxed. This is in no way a slim fit and could easily be integrated with other relaxed fitting labels like Yohji Yamamoto. Aside from the aesthetics, a loose fitting garment like this ensures maximum comfort – you are in no way restricted. You can throw it on and forget about it.
EG also likes to incorporate a lot of little details. In this case the button placket is done in a complimentary olive cotton, making it easier to button the sweater up. Pockets are both reinforced on the interior and there is an additional hidden interior pocket. This model is no longer under production, but get it here at the cheapest price around.
Size is labeled a medium and fits relaxed as noted. This can easily work for a large or even an XL in my opinion. I measure the chest at 24”, shoulders at 20”, length at 30” from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 25” from the shoulder. The sweater comes in lightly used, very good shape, with no holes, tears or stains. Made in the USA.
