For sale here is a shirt from the FOB Factory label. FOB Factory is one of Japan’s smaller-scale, highly Americana-inspired labels based in the Kojima area of central Japan. Kojima is home to most of Japan’s denim and textile industry, known for high quality manufacturing with a concentration of both highly skilled workers and vintage machinery. FOB Factory has been active since 1995, producing entirely on vintage looms and using the highest quality of materials available.
This shirt comes in a classic button down silhouette with a number of details to set them apart from the pack. Fabric is 100% cotton, done in a highly textured weave. Substantial chain stitch construction is used throughout, giving a very nice hand feel across all of the seams. Buttons are all white cat’s eye, with the exception of the right chest pocket which is brown. Pockets are asymmetric and reinforced with green thread at the stress points. Neck is lined in a white cotton canvas, while the bottom has a vintage style union made tag added on the interior.
FOB Factory only produce pretty limited runs of their clothing and are stocked by only a handful of dealers domestically and internationally. At the moment they seem to have some European distribution but none in North America. They specialize primarily in denim, but get a rare non-denim piece here at the cheapest price around.
Size is labeled a 2/medium and fits more like a standard small. I measure the chest at 19” / 49cm, shoulders at 16” / 41cm, length at 27” / 67cm in front and 28” / 71cm in back, and sleeves at 24” / 61cm from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears, stains or visible signs of wear. Made in Japan.
