For sale here is a pair of pants from the FOB Factory label. FOB Factory is one of Japan’s smaller-scale, highly Americana-inspired labels based in the Kojima area of central Japan. Kojima is home to most of Japan’s denim and textile industry, known for high quality manufacturing with a concentration of both highly skilled workers and vintage machinery. FOB Factory has been active since 1995, producing entirely on vintage looms and using the highest quality of materials available.
These pants come in a five pocket straight leg silhouette, although have a number of details setting them apart from the pack. Fabric is 100% cotton, done in a highly textured khaki weave. Fabric looks to be reactive dyed, where the color is pleasantly uneven throughout and will develop and fade according to wear. I don’t think the fabric is lined, but the interior side of the material is a solid gray. Given the two layers of fabric, this is on the warmer side, probably idea for fall-winter-spring wear.
Other details include a zip fly with a large waistband button and slider, unique formation around the coin pocket, cotton canvas lining the waistband, and sturdy double needle construction on the seat, legs and pockets. This is one of those pieces where all aspects are well considered and quality is very strong. It is not a mass-produced pair of pants and really lets the character of the fabric and the maker shine through.
FOB Factory only produce pretty limited runs of their clothing and are stocked by only a handful of dealer domestically and internationally. At the moment they seem to have some European distribution but none in North America. They specialize primarily in denim, but get a rare non-denim piece here at the cheapest price around.
Size is labeled a large and fits a 32 inch waist well. I measure the waist at 32”, inseam at 28”, rise at 10.5” and leg opening at 8.5”. The pants come in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
