Up for sale here is a nice chambray shirt from the Full Count label. Full Count is another one of those Japanese labels that are heavily vintage-influenced, manufacturing clothes very much in the old-fashioned way but putting their own spin on classic designs. There are quite a few such brands operating in Japan, many of them independent, willfully obscure and pretty small. Full Count is one of the medium-size operators, not quite as big as Flat Head, Sugar Cane or Iron Heart, for example, but they have been getting increased exposure outside of Japan recently, as they’re starting to get picked up by more stores abroad.
This shirt is very much in the vintage aesthetic, manufactured on shuttle looms in a crisp chambray. This isn’t a printed design or with the corners cut in any way. If you look at the detailed pics, you can see the individual threads of the fabric are finely knit together and have a very nice texture. This is what vintage loom production is capable of, something Full Count in particular often like to show off.
Fabric aside, you have a number of other details here worth noting. There is a three button collar, including a button on the back that references 1960s shirting. Collar has printed info which is another reference to vintage shirts, while there is a sharp chest pocket and fabric reinforcement along the hem. As you can hopefully tell there is quite a bit of work that goes in to these kinds of pieces, and full count are never ones to sacrifice quality in any way. These shirts currently retail in the $210 range in Japan, and go for more overseas if you can find them.
Size is labeled a 38 and fits a standard small well in my opinion. I measure the chest at 19”, shoulders at 16”, length at 26.5” from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 24” from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, excellent shape with no holes, tears, stains or obvious signs of wear. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
