Garment Reproduction of Workers is a French label heavily inspired by vintage workwear, where they look to recreate vintage textiles and fits as much as possible. It is an aesthetic somewhat similar to what Paul Harnden and Bergfabel do, for example, where they reference a lot of classic European clothing and try to make as high quality of an execution as possible, incorporating custom textiles and hand detailing.
This is a vintage style button down shirt coming in a 60% cotton, 40% linen weave. Given the linen content I would consider this a lighter weight piece that is nicely breathable but not especially wrinkly. Fabric is highly textured with a pleasantly uneven feel, the sort of thing where you can see the individual threads woven together on close inspection. Buttons are painted a solid black. Fit is somewhat longer than more modern shirts, with side gussets. There is also some vintage style detailing on the button placket.
Garment Reproduction of Workers is one of the those very specific niche brands with a dedicated following. They do not produce a ton of stuff and seem to be most popular in Japan, and are well worth looking into in more detail. These shirts retail at about $350 in Japan but get it here much more reasonably.
Size is labeled a 2, corresponding to a standard medium. I measure the chest at 20” / 51cm, shoulders at 17” / 43cm, length at 29.5” / 75cm and sleeves at 24” / 61cm from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, excellent shape with no holes, tears, stains or visible signs of wear. Made in France.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
