Up for sale here is a knit cap from the Hysteric Glamour label. Hysteric Glamour has a long history in Japanese fashion, dating back to 1984. They have gone through several iterations in design, but have always looked to incorporate rock music style into their pieces. Hysteric Glamour have done a number of collaborations with high-profile and cult rock bands including Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Sonic Youth, the Cramps, T Rex, and many many more. Their main inspiration comes from rock music from the 1960s through 80s in particular. The other side of Hysteric Glamour is the surprisingly high quality of materials they use. For a long time they have been a part of the Ozone Community company (who also used to manufacture a line called “ozone rocks”), who specialize in using organic materials.
With that said, this hat is a bit more straightforward and avoids any direct musical references. Aside from band tees and prints, Hysteric Glamour also manufacture some really nice basics where the quality is front and center. Here the cap comes in a solid gray 100% wool fabric. It is worth noting that this actually a German-manufactured piece. Hysteric Glamour rarely produce outside of Japan and when they do it is done for a reason, where the quality of fabric here is excellent. This is a nicely insulating wool hat, featuring a signature Hysteric Glamour on the front.
As is always the case for Hysteric Glamour, production runs on these pieces were very small and retail was ridiculously expensive. You can be sure you are getting a quality product for the cost, but get it much more reasonably here.
Size is unlabeled, where the hat has considerable stretch and should accommodate most head sizes fine. As pictured (with the cuff) I measure the height of the hat at 8” / 20cm and its width at 9.5” / 25cm. The hat comes in lightly used, very good shape. There is a minor bit of wear on the interior but no holes, tears or stains. Made in Germany.
