Japan Blue Jeans knit cotton sashiko button down shirt, size L (fits M)

$39.99

For sale here is a shirt from the Japan Blue jeans label. Japan Blue is one of the lines manufactured by Rampuya, the same company that does the Momotaro label. Both labels are very strongly jeans and indigo oriented, producing exclusively in the Kojima area of Japan. Japan Blue focuses pretty strongly on jeans and denim jackets, but the same high quality production standards are still very much there, as are the really detailed and unique fabrics.

This shirt is definitely unique in the fabric department. Material is 100% cotton, coming in a lightweight cotton. The twist is the knitting, where the fabric is embroidered throughout in navy in a traditional sashiko style. The sashiko knit gives the fabric considerably more weight and structure and just looks cool. It is a time consuming process, but the results are very nice. You will not find a fabric like this anywhere else.

Detailing is otherwise pretty straightforward, with a single chest pocket, with vegetable ivory buttons throughout and a curved hem. These pieces were of course produced in very limited quantities, with this model now being completely sold out. Retail is about $250 in Japan and would go for even more abroad if you could find it. Get it here much more reasonably.

Size is labeled a large and fits like a standard medium. I measure the chest at 20” / 51cm, shoulders at 17” / 43cm, length at 26” / 66cm in front and 27.5” / 70cm in back, and sleeves at 24” / 62cm from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears, stains or obvious signs of wear. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
