Up for sale here is a chore jacket from the venerable Laboureur label. Laboureur is a heritage French label, starting up in the mid 1950s and still family-owned. They originally started producing agricultural workwear and haven’t ventured out too far since. As the name suggests, Laboureur is still very workwear focused, most known for producing various iterations of the iconic “chore jacket”. The other thing Laboureur is perhaps best known for is their strong Made in France ethos. All production, as well as even the materials, are exclusively locally-sourced. This is one of those proudly French labels that is unfortunately a dying breed.
Although pretty strongly French, Laboureur have actually collaborated with a few more fashion-forward labels including the likes of Junya Watanabe and United Arrows in Japan. This jacket is actually a part of the collaboration with United Arrows, as you can see on the interior tags. These models look very similar to other Laboureur Products, but at the same time these particular pieces were only available from United Arrows’ shops in Japan.
Material is done in 67% cotton, 23% polyester blend. It is a pretty unique fabric, referencing classic cotton/poly workwear. It is a medium weight, ideal for year-round wear, and intended to take a beating. Many of the Laboureur hallmarks are still very much apparent, where this is produced as a work jacket yet at the same time looks very smart outside of a work context. Buttons are branded, there is an interior chest pocket, and interior features a large woven tag.
Size is labeled a 40 and fits a medium well. I measure the chest at 20.5”, shoulders at 17”, length at 28” and sleeves at 24.5”. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape. There is just a bit of fading on the neck tag and some general wear, but no holes, tears, or stains. Made in France.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
