For sale here is a pair of pants from Momotaro Jeans’ Blued Garments line, one of the lesser-known sub-labels from Momotaro. Momotaro and their parent company, Rampuya, are all about making very high quality, Americana inspired designs. They produce exclusively in the Okayama area in Japan, all done in-house in their own factory, and everything is built very tough and made to last. For Blued Garments, the emphasis is strongly on indigo pieces. Most Momotaro and Japan Blue Jeans pieces also use indigo, but pretty much everything for Blued Garments goes the indigo route.
These pants come somewhere in between pants and jeans. Fabric is more of a knit cotton than a denim, where the straight denim jeans would likely be under the Momotaro main line. These are a somewhat heavy weight cotton, done in a sort of salt-and-pepper style weave with specs and dark and light blue throughout. Fabric has been indigo dyed and should pleasantly fade and develop with wear. Currently the fabric is a dark shade of blue with no visible fading.
This is a straight leg fit with just a bit of a taper toward the cuffs. Details include waistband lining and pockets done in a separate indigo dyed chambray fabric. Waistband has a metal button and a zip fly. Pockets are all reinforced with additional threading. Rear has a Blued Garments tag on the right side, while the interior waistband also have a vintage style union made tag. Blued Garments is one of those lines that seems to have nonexistent distribution outside of Japan, making this one of the rarer pieces from Rampuya and Momotaro. Retail was about $300 in Japan, but get it here much more reasonably.
Size is labeled a 32, fitting true. I measure the waist at 32” / 84cm, inseam at 28” / 72cm, rise at 11” / 28cm and leg opening at 7” / 18cm. The pants come in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears, fades or anything like that. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
