For sale here is a pair of pants from the Nonnative label, one of Japan’s more up and coming streetwear/casual wear labels. Their influences tend to go somewhere between traditional work and outer wear, with some hints of military influences as well. That in itself is somewhat common among Japanese brands, although in Nonnative’s case they aim for a more timeless design, one less dictated by fashion and trends, opting for quality over flashiness. Detailing and quality are paramount here, and you’ve definitely got plenty of it.
This is one of those pairs of pants with a seemingly simple design at first but actually has quite a bit going on. Silhouette is pretty straightforward, based on the classic five pocket chino. Fabric is 100% cotton. Details are the more interesting feature here, where there is a hidden rainbow zip fly, for example, with a branded zip pull. Interior waistband is lined in a heavy blue cotton canvas, while the pockets are lined in a gray cotton chambray fabric rather than the more typical white cotton. Rear pockets are also zipped, with some darts near the rear pockets and the back of the knees. Belt loops also use a higher quality construction, where they are built into the waistband rather than just sewn on.
Nonnative is one of those labels that carefully considers all aspects of their designs. Nothing is out of place and these should ensure both comfort and practical convenience. They are pretty highly underrated outside of Japan but are well worth checking out. Retail on these pants is about $300 in Japan and even more abroad if you can find them, but get it here much more reasonably.
Size is labeled a 2, fitting a 32 inch waist well. I measure the waist at 32”, rise at 11”, inseam at 27” and leg opening at 7.75”. This is a straight leg fit, neither too loose or too slim but right in the middle. The pants come in used, generally good shape. Rear right pocket is missing the pull and there is some minor wear otherwise, but no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
