Pure Blue Japan indigo dyed jacquard shirt, size 2 (fits S/M)

$39.99

Up for sale here is an indigo dyed shirt by the Pure Blue Japan label. These guys are one of the better known Japanese denim labels out there, rightfully highly regarded for their jeans and denim jackets in particular, although they also manufacture a wider range of apparel including shirts as you can see here.

So what we have here is a standard weight button down shirt in cotton. The button down shirt is of course pretty ubiquitous these days, but PBJ put enough of their own unique spin on it to keep it interesting and fresh. For one, material is an over dyed indigo. That is, the fabric is fully dyed after assembly. This gives the fabric a very nice depth of color rather than just a solid blue, where the tags are also indigo dyed. Fabric also has a very nice texture to it, very likely the handiwork of vintage shuttle looms that many of the Kojima-based brands (including PBJ) love to use. The weaving is probably the main draw here, where this is one of PBJ’s jacquard knits, done with a variety of knit patterns throughout.

One of the appealing properties of the indigo dye is that it will pleasantly fade and develop with wear. Other details include side gussets, high quality vegetable ivory buttons used throughout, woven leaf label on the left side and woven neck label. These shirts stand with the big boys of Japanese workwear, although they are now completely sold out and otherwise unavailable. Get it here at a fraction of the retail.

Size is labeled a 2 and fits a small or a medium depending on how you like the fit. I measure the chest at 20” / 51cm, shoulders at 16” /40cm, length at 26” / 67cm and sleeves at 25.5” / 65cm from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good condition with no holes, tears, stains or visible fading of the indigo. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
