For sale here is a woven plaid shirt from Joe McCoy, a part of the Real McCoys family of labels. McCoys are one of the top Japanese “repro” labels. They take traditional US work and military wear, updating the fit and the quality considerably. This is a big thing in Japan and something that has been gradually getting more exposure outside of Japan as well, particularly with brands like 45 rpm, Visvim and Kapital.
Real McCoys emphasize authenticity a bit more in their designs compared to the other labels above, while the quality is equal to, if not better than, pretty much anybody out there. McCoys are perhaps best known for their obsessive military reproductions, but they’re equally well versed in manufacturing vintage style work and sportswear.
This shirt references vintage "ivy" style button downs. The body is made from a woven cotton, done the old school way on vintage shuttle looms, where every color you see is actually a different piece of colored thread. This is a fairly light weight weave in my opinion, good for wear most of the year and easily layered up or down depending on the season. Other details here include two buttoned chest pockets, side gussets with chain stitch run off, chain stitch construction all around, and woven neck tag.
Size is labeled a 15.5 and fits like a relaxed medium or a standard large, depending on your preference. I measure the chest at 21.5” / 55cm, shoulders at 18” / 45cm, length at 28.5” / 73cm from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 25” / 62cm the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, excellent shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
