Up for sale here is a t-shirt from Japanese label Sassafras. Active since 2004, Sassafras fills a pretty unique niche in that they design clothes ostensibly for gardening. That is, they make very high quality, functional daily wear inspired by vintage outdoor clothing. They are one of those labels that has developed a pretty strong cult following in Japan, but has very little publicity and next to no distribution outside of Japan.
This is one of Sassafras’ graphic tees. Fabric is a 100% cotton, done in red. One minor feature I like about Sassafras is that they keep the neck line pretty small. It is one of those little things that shows their attention to detail, where you don’t have to worry about an over tight neck or anything like that. Still, the main draw is probably the graphic print. Design is in keeping with Sassafras’ gardening theme, where you have some somewhat nonsensical “prospect cottage garden” logo on the front. It’s a nice print, the sort of seeming randomness that Japanese labels are the best at, and the quality of execution here is excellent as you might expect.
Sassafras is one of those labels with almost nonexistent distribution outside of Japan, but are well worth your time seeking out. Designs are always forward thinking and intelligent, and quality is nothing to scoff at. This particular design is now completely sold out, but get it here at the cheapest price around.
Size is labeled a medium and fits true. I measure the chest at 20”, shoulders at 18”, and length at 25”. The shirt comes in lightly used, generally good shape. There is a very small hole towards the bottom center of the front (see last pic) but otherwise no issues. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
