Shuttle Notes indigo dyed star pattern shirt, size L (fits S/M)

$34.99 / Sold Out

For sale here is a shirt from Japanese manufacturer Shuttle Notes. The label is interesting in that they’re actually a part of a Japanese textile mill (Ueyama) – they supply fabrics to a number of other Japanese labels, but they also started their own line with Shuttle Notes. They’re probably best known for their shirting (and rightfully so), where they take pretty familiar silhouettes and do some really crazy stuff with their textiles. Being their own mill, they can produce some fabrics that very few other labels are able to even come close to.

As you might expect the fabric on this shirt is excellent. Material is a fairly light weight cotton, indigo dyed in blue with a star pattern discharge printed on it. The way it works is that the star part is actually undyed fabric: they put something on to block the dye in this pattern while the rest of the shirt is dyed a dark shade of blue. One of the properties of this kind of fabric is that it will pleasantly fade according to how it is worn. That’s part of the fun with these kinds of indigo pieces.

Other details include vintage style three button collar, horn buttons used throughout, reinforcements on the sides of the hem, and several tags including a union-made style tag hidden on the interior. Shuttle notes is pretty hard to come by these days, especially outside of Japan. Retail is typically around $200 outside of Japan if you can find Shuttle Notes, although this model is now long gone.

Size is labeled a large and fits slim, more like a somewhat loose small or a slim medium. I measure the chest at 19”, shoulders at 17”, length at 27.5” in front and 29.5” in back, both from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 24.5” from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan
