For sale here is a shirt from Japanese manufacturer Shuttle Notes. The label is interesting in that they’re actually a part of a Japanese textile mill (Ueyama) – they supply fabrics to a number of other Japanese labels, but they also started their own line with Shuttle Notes. They’re probably best known for their shirting (and rightfully so), where they take pretty familiar silhouettes and do some really crazy stuff with their textiles. Being their own mill, they can produce some fabrics that very few other labels are able to even come close to.
As you might expect the fabric on this shirt is excellent. The main material is a fairly light weight solid white cotton knit. Normally a white cotton fabric is pretty standard, but this is not your ordinary fabric. Material is super high quality and nicely textured. At the very least it is definitely an extra long staple cotton, where the longer strands make it stronger and more durable than a more typical cotton fabric. It is one of those materials that is best experienced in person, and really elevates the shirt overall.
Details here are pretty classic for the most part, although there are a few tweaks. For one, the hem is kept pretty flat which allows the shirt to be worn both tucked and untucked. Like a lot of the more recent Shuttle Notes pieces the silhouette is also more relaxed, allowing for more comfort and ease of movement. Shuttle notes is pretty hard to come by outside of Japan. Retail is typically around $200 outside of Japan if you can find them, although this model is now sold out.
Size is labeled a medium but fits loose, more like a standard large. I suppose more recent Shuttle Notes pieces are grouping themselves with the growing movement of Japanese labels aiming for a more relaxed fit. I measure the chest at 22”, shoulders at 20”, length at 27” in front and 28” in back, both from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 22” from the shoulder. Taking the longer shoulder seam length into account this is a standard arm length.. The shirt comes in lightly used, excellent shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
