For sale here is a sweater from the South 2 West 8 label, part of the family of labels run by the Nepenthes company, the same people that produce Engineered Garments and Needles, among other labels. Each of these brands has their own particular focus, and South 2 West 8 seems mainly oriented around outdoors wear, although they do some pretty radical reinterpretations.
In this case we have a pretty unique take on the classic sweater. Material here is 100% polyester, but it is done in a sort of faux fur style. It is a long staple fleece, reminiscent of fur, in a pretty relaxed fit. Being fleece and furry, this is a pretty warm sweater, ideal for the colder weather as a mid layer or even an outer. Given the fabric used, this is difficult to get wrinkly, is nicely insulating, and washes easily.
Design elements are pretty straightforward here, aside from the material. Front has a moose head logo embroidered in green on the bottom left side. Neck tag has a print of the same logo. S2W8 is perhaps one of the smaller Nepenthes labels, nowhere near as big as Engineered Garments, but they still produce some really nice pieces. These pieces were produced in limited quantities and are no longer available. Retail was about $200 in Japan and would have cost more abroad. Get it here much more reasonably.
Size is labeled a medium and fits relaxed, more like a standard large or even an XL. I measure the chest at 25”, shoulders at 21”, length at 28” and sleeves at 22” from the shoulder. Note that this is a drop shoulder silhouette and sleeves are a standard length. The sweater comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
