Sugar Cane “light” line indigo dyed hooded jacket, size M

$49.99

Up for sale here is a jacket from the Sugar Cane label, a part of the Toyo Enterprise family of labels that includes Buzz Rickson, Sun Surf, Tailor Tokyo, Indian Motorcycle, and several others. Sugar Cane themselves manufacture a lot of Mister Freedom’s collections and distribute them in Japan. Needless to say, their credentials are very strong within the vintage-inspired, workwear-influenced Japanese clothing industry.

This is an indigo dyed denim jacket from their “light” line. This is one of Sugar Cane’s newer lines, intended for wear during the warmer months. That said, this isn’t super light in my opinion, but more of a medium-light fabric suitable for year-round wear. Quality is strong throughout as you would expect, with a number of subtle details added. Material is around a 10 to 12oz indigo dyed denim. The indigo is pretty unique in that it is a dark wash with darker pieces of indigo throughout, almost like an indigo camouflage pattern. This different indigo coloring is not really apparent from far away, but you can see the differences in indigo tones on close inspection.

Silhouette seems to borrow from both classic denim jackets and military wear. The front placket looks a bit like a type II denim jacket, but it has been switched out with zipper closure, diagonal side pockets, and the hood detail. It is a pretty unique silhouette, and as always with any quality indigo it will continue to fade and develop with wear. This is definitely one of sugar cane’s rarer models. Get it here at the cheapest price around.

Size is labeled a medium and fits true. I measure the chest at 22”, shoulders at 18”, length at 25”, and sleeves at 23” from the shoulder. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains and only minor fading of the indigo. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
