Up for sale here is a short sleeve shirt from Undercover’s 2007 spring-summer collection. This was the collection between the 07aw and 08aw seasons, what many people consider to be the pinnacle of Undercover’s output. Those seasons saw a sort of futuristic approach to fashion, fusing highly technical materials to Undercover’s very strong tailoring and graphic sensibility. While the 2007ss collection isn’t quite as highly regarded, it mined a similar aesthetic but tailored the designs and materials more toward the warmer weather.
So what you have with this shirt is light weight, very high quality cotton in a solid black. In my opinion, UC’s textiles for this season in particular were some of the strongest they’ve done. There was a lot of giza cotton and they generally produced at an even higher level during this run. Fabric is above standard even for Undercover.
Design is a fairly straightforward black tee silhouette. This is a crewneck design, with a black-on-black rose embroidery on the bottom left side of the shirt. The rose was actually the main design motif for this collection. Rear also has a seam across the center. Fit is somewhat slim yet well-fitting overall. Tailoring has been Undercover’s secret weapon for a while now, and they use it to a very strong effect here.
Undercover always produces in very limited quantities, and pieces like this are now long gone, not to return. Retail is also uniformly high, with this one going for around $100 in Japan, much more abroad if you could find it. Get it here much more reasonably.
Size is labeled a 2, where the fit is like a somewhat slim medium. I measure the chest at 19” / 49cm, shoulders at 16” / 41cm and length at 26” / 66cm. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Fit is really strong especially considering its age. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
