Undercover by Jun Takahashi 2010aw reversible fleece jacket, size 3 (M)

$74.99

For sale here is a reversible fleece jacket from Jun Takahashi’s Undercover label. This particular piece comes from Undercover’s fall-winter 2010 collection, “the mentality of reverse running”. The concept for this season was to create wearable clothes with just enough unique design sense to set them apart, but that you could still wear and enjoy on an everyday basis. I liken it designer Jun Takahashi’s take on the “less but better” ethos of the previous season. Where for the 2010ss collection Takahashi was channeling Dieter Rahms, this time around he was doing something more true to his own voice.

This is a pretty unique take on the staple polyester fleece jacket. Material is a woven fleece in polyester, nicely insulating, light in weight and very soft. It is also fully reversible, with the other side done in a tonal nylon material. Both sides have a sort of pseudo blazer silhouette. The fleece side has a zip closure, while the nylon side has snap buttons on top of the zip. Fleece side has an exposed chest pocket with season specific tag and zipped side pockets, while the nylon side has a different season specific tag, a different zipped chest pocket and horizontal side pockets with flap closure.

It is a clever design where you can wear the jacket either way according to your preference, switching the worn side from day to day if you like. Design is also highly representative of the season’s design ethos, where it is a highly functional piece. A good fleece can be worn as a mid layer in the coldest of weather or in this case it functions just as well as an outer layer. The blazer style silhouette makes this slightly more formal than your standard fleece and it can be integrated across a wide variety of looks.

These vintage Undercover pieces are increasingly difficult to come by. Retail prices were ridiculously expensive if you could even find them, but get one here at the cheapest price around.

Size is labeled a 3 fitting a medium well. I measure the chest at 21”, shoulders at 17”, length at 29” and sleeves at 25” from the shoulder. The jacket is comes in used, generally good shape. There is a snag on the chest pocket seam on the fleece side, as well as some general wear on the arms of the fleece side. These are minor issues but noted in the interest of full disclosure. Otherwise no problems. Made in Japan.
