Westride Japan selvedge indigo chambray western shirt, size 40 (fits M)

$44.99 / Sold Out

For sale here is a shirt from the Westride label, one of a good number of Japanese brands that are strongly influenced by vintage Americana. Where Westride is different is that they’re primarily a motorcycle label (the name is probably a good indication), a particular subset of the “American casual” family of brands, much in the same vein as Iron Heart, Buco and Black Sign, among others. Probably the closest peer for Westride is Iron Heart actually, where both labels use very heavy fabrics, producing at an extremely high level of quality. Westride have a reasonably strong following in Japan, yet for some reason they appear to have almost no international distribution at the moment.

So what we have here is Westride’s take on the snap button western shirt. Material is an indigo dyed chambray in cotton. Weight here is definitely heavier than a more typical chambray fabric, this is more like a denim fabric rather than a simple knit cotton. As such, you can see a considerable amount of texture in the material as well, especially on close inspection. Like any quality indigo, this piece should pleasantly develop and fade with wear as well.

Details include mother of pearl snap buttons throughout, two chest pockets that are trimmed and reinforced in black leather, reinforced shoulders typical of the western silhouette, and selvedge line on the interior button placket. It is a bit unusual to see leather incorporated on the pockets and the selvedge detailing on this type of shirt, but this serves to elevate it above the competition. Construction is otherwise very tough, where this shirt should hold up to the elements very well and is made to last. Westride is one of those labels that refuses to cut corners in any sense, focusing exclusively on making super high quality products. Production runs are small, and this shirt retailed at about $250 in Japan. This model is now sold out, but get it here much more reasonably.

Size is labeled a 40, fitting a standard medium well in my opinion. I measure the chest at 20.5”, shoulders at 18”, length at 29” from the base of the neck and sleeves at 26” from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used but very good shape with no holes, tears, stains or really any obvious signs of wear at all. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
