Up for sale here is a jacket from the Woolrich Woolen Mills label. This jacket was a part of a limited collaboration with Daiki Suzuki of Engineered Garments – Suzuki designed a revamped version of Woolrich Woolen Mills for a few seasons. This particular jacket comes from the fall-winter 2008 season, manufactured in limited quantities and is increasingly rare.
As with all of Suzuki’s pieces, this jacket was made in the USA and based on a classic silhouette. That is, design is basically Engineered Garments’ shawl collar cover jacket with a few tweaks and different materials. This piece can be very, very easily integrated with other EG pieces.
The main draw here is probably the fabric which makes use of Woolrich Woolen Mills’ signature buffalo check woolen plaid. Fabric is an 85% wool, 15% nylon blend. It is highly robust, built very tough and nicely insulating. This is a heritage American fabric to be sure and should cover you well through most conditions (you can always layer up in the coldest of weather). Fabric is naturally wind and water resistant, insulating and also breathable.
Details include an array of pockets, including four pockets on the front and a pen slot on the left chest pocket, working buttoned cuffs, a throat latch on the collar allowing you to wear the collar up or down depending on the weather and your preference, and another array of pockets on the interior. There is seriously plenty of storage space here.
As always with Woolrich and Engineered Garments, a considerable level of care and detail goes into each piece. This line of clothing designed by Daiki Suzuki is no longer in production, and production runs of these pieces were very small to begin with. Get it here at a fraction of the retail price.
Size is labeled a small and fits a bit relaxed like a lot of EG. This should easily be able to accommodate a medium as well. I measure the chest at 21”, shoulders at 18”, length at 27” and sleeves at 24.5” from the shoulder. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in USA.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
