Engineered Garments shirt for sale here. Engineered Garments, designed by Daiki Suzuki and under the umbrella of Japanese company Nepenthes, manufactures their products exclusively in the United States, and almost entirely in New York City. Part of their design ethos is to utilize some of the high quality materials and services available in the city and to keep their factories going. EG started before the current minor resurgence of American-made products and really continues to push things forward. One of their other main ideals is to update classic workwear pieces with a more modern approach. That’s often manifested in high quality materials, and sometimes more fashion-forward designs as well.

In this case, we have a woven cotton shirt, done in a medium weight fabric, ideal for year-round wear. This is manufactured the old-school way, where each color is a different thread woven together. It’s not a printed piece and as such is considerably more expensive and time consuming to produce. But the texture and the look up close in particular make it well worth the extra cost.

As always, Engineered Garments incorporates a lot of details into their designs. Design evokes 1950s era details, where there is an open collar detail, flat front (allowing the shirt to be worn tucked or untucked) and side slits. Buttons are mother of pearl. Neckline has some extra stitching for reinforcement, while the interior has an EG patch, extra tags and some extra buttons. One of my favorite details here is the asymmetric front pocket detail, where the left pocket has a pocket on top of the main pocket. The brown and yellow stitching lines are also much thicker than other parts of the fabric, making for a nice and unique texture. This shirt retailed at about $300, although it is now long gone. Get it here while you can at a fraction of the price.

Size is labeled a small and fits more like a standard medium in my opinion. I measure the chest at 20”, shoulders at 17”, length at 25.5” in front and 26.5” in back, both from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 24.5” from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good condition. There are some very small, barely noticeable stains on the right cuffs, and otherwise no holes, tears or stains. Made in USA.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
