Up for sale here is a shirt from 45 rpm. 45 rpm is perhaps best known for their high quality materials, attention to detail, and of course their indigo products. Production is always in small batches, and their pieces are only available direct from their shops. This shirt is a great example of what 45 rpm is capable of, coming in an excellent medium-light weight indigo-dyed striped fabric. The natural indigo 45 rpm uses gives the shirt a pleasantly uneven color, one that will gradually fade according to how it is worn. That’s part of the fun of these kinds of indigo pieces, seeing how they evolve.
Silhouette of the shirt is pretty classic, although this being 45 rpm they have added in a fair number of details. The blues you see are all indigo dyed, and the pattern is somewhat similar to the more traditional “hickory” indigo stripe you see with other heritage brands. Fit is based on vintage western shirts, although they have opted for standard buttons rather than snap buttons. Buttons are pretty cool actually, coming in a brown vegetable ivory. Left pocket has an embroidered “R” logo in red. Interior is partially lined in the shoulders in a solid indigo blue, and care instructions are printed on the interior in Japanese.
Size is labeled a 4 and fits between a medium and a large in my opinion. I measure the chest at 21” / 53cm, shoulders at 18” / 46cm, length at 30” / 76cm in front and 31.5” / 80cm in back, both from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 27” / 69cm from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, good shape. There is a small hole on the rear left side of the shirt. Otherwise no holes, tears, stains or obvious signs of wear. Made in Japan.
