Up for sale here is a t-shirt from 45 rpm. 45 rpm is perhaps best known for their high quality materials, attention to detail, and of course their indigo products. Production is always in small batches, and their pieces are only available direct from their shops. This shirt is a great example of what 45 rpm is capable of, coming in an excellent medium-light weight knit cotton fabric, dyed in their signature indigo.
If 45 rpm is anything, they are very crazy about the materials they use and how they’re made. The material here is pleasantly uneven, the kind of slubby fabric you more typically associate with denim jeans, and likely done on the same kind of low tension shuttle loom. It has been given their signature indigo dye treatment and a vintage processing, where the indigo has a nicely uneven shade throughout. With use the indigo should continue to develop and fade with wear.
Being 45rpm, there are some interesting details incorporated as well. Neckline has a “45r” logo in what I assume is a discharge dye. Interior at the bottom also has materials and care instructions discharge printed in white. Left side of the shirt has an “R” logo embroidered in an indigo dyed thread, with split hems on each side. 45rpm has some of the best quality out there. That quality in no way comes cheap though. Retail outside of Japan on these tees is about $250, but get it here much more reasonably.
Size is labeled a 4 and fits a standard medium well. I measure the chest at 19” / 49cm, shoulders at 19” / 49cm (silhouette has a slightly dropped shoulder), and length at 26” / 66cm. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears, stains and minimal fading of the indigo beyond its original condition. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
