Up for sale here is an excellent piece from the Agnes B label. Long well-regarded in both France and Japan, Agnes B has held a cult following in a number of other places as well. She’s been at it since the mid 1970s, infusing a very French look into her designs. The label produces with a very consistent aesthetic, using high quality materials and attention to detail like the best designers. She’s definitely well worth looking checking out in more detail if you’re not super familiar with her.
This shirt is Agnes B’s take on the classic button down. There aren’t any ostentatious details here, it’s more of a minimal aesthetic but very well executed. Design is very much in the vein of classic French casual wear, the sort of thing that will go with pretty much everything and is never dated. This shirt is actually a vintage Agnes B piece, from back when she was producing almost entirely in France (which is sadly no longer the case these days). The quality of the materials and the tailoring are both excellent. Design may be simple but you can see it was given the utmost care, where it is the best version of a black button down shirt you can find. This shirt is classic and done the right way with no corners cut. That’s Agnes B in a nutshell. They do it well and timeless.
Size is labeled a 38, normally a medium, but fits relaxed and can easily work for a large. I measure the chest at 22” / 56cm, shoulders at 18” / 46cm, length at 28” / 72cm, and sleeves at 25” / 64cm from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. This is really excellent shape considering its age. Made in France.
