Dry Bones jeans vintage style polka dot shirt, size 40 (fits M)

$34.99

Up for sale here is a button down vintage style shirt from Dry Bones. Like a number of other Japanese “American casual” brands out there, Dry Bones is strongly influenced by traditional American work and sportswear. Also like a lot of these brands, Dry Bones pays crazy attention to both quality and detailing, and likewise puts their own unique stamp on these kinds of vintage-inspired pieces. In Dry Bones’ case, that unique stamp is twofold: for one, they’re much more likely to incorporate traditional Japanese imagery and techniques into their clothes than some of the other brands out there. The other is that the brand is pretty heavily rock-n-roll inspired. In Japan they’re known primarily as a rockabilly brand, sort of the same way that Iron Heart is known as a bikers’ brand: they certainly have that clientele, but can easily appeal outside of those circles as well.

So what you have here is a button down shirt in burgundy with a polka dot pattern throughout. Material is 100% cotton, coming in a standard shirt weight – not too heavy and not too light. Aside from the excellent material and quality construction details are otherwise kept pretty minimal. The main influence seems to be 1950s-60s era Americana to me. Retail on these shirts was about $200 in Japan if you could find them (even more abroad), and this model is now sold out.

Size is labeled a 40/L although this fits a medium better in my opinion. I measure the chest at 21” / 54cm, shoulders at 17” / 44cm, length at 26” / 66cm in the front and 27” / 69cm in the back, both from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 25” / 64cm from the shoulder. The shirt comes in used, generally good shape. There is a bit of what appears to be sun fading here, most visible on the left shoulder area. Otherwise no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
