Up for sale here is a rare collaboration piece between Engineered Garments and the Beams Plus label out of Japan. Engineered Garments, designed by Daiki Suzuki, are produced entirely in the USA, fusing vintage Americana with technical design. Beams Plus are one of the house labels for the Beams select shop with a similarly strong Americana influence, typically opting for classic and high quality design.
EG and Beams Plus have released a few collaborative pieces over the years. This model is called the Glassfield pants, coming in a military-inspired silhouette with some interesting tweaks. Fabric here is 100% cotton in a military green in a standard pants weight, neither too light nor too heavy. The design of the pants may look uniform on first glance but they actually draw from several different sources: the front right side borrows from classic chinos, the front left from fatigue pants, while the rear left draws from outdoor pants and the rear right from painter pants. It all combines to make for something completely unique.
These EG x Beams collaborative pieces are only available from the Beams select shop in Japan, and to my knowledge not available at all outside of Japan. Retail is about $400 in Japan but get it here much more reasonably.
Size is labeled a 34 and fits true. I measure the waist at 34” / 86cm, inseam at 29” / 74cm (unaltered), rise at 10.5” / 27cm and leg opening at 7.5” / 19cm. This is a straight leg fit with just a bit of a taper toward the ankles. The pants come in lightly used, generally good shape. There is some minor wear including on the front left side pocket and on the right leg. Still, nothing too crazy and there is plenty of life left here. Made in the USA.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
