Issey Miyake Men 2017aw cotton pants, size 2 (32”)

$49.99 Sold out

Up for sale here is a pair of pants from Issey Miyake. The Miyake label is a contemporary of Yohji Yamamoto and Comme Des Garcons, one of the original Japanese avant-garde labels that really popularized the Japanese textile industry abroad in the 70s and 80s. The label is of course still going strong. Miyake is highly conceptual and is responsible for the development of a variety of new textiles and incorporating a number of technical innovations into their pieces.

As usual with Miyake, we have a custom textile here and some unique but subtle detailing. Fabric is 100% cotton, in a medium weight suitable for year-round wear. There is a subtle weave to the fabric, where it has a slubby texture to it, almost like a sashiko fabric. It’s not quite your standard cotton fabric to be sure. We have a tapered leg fit with a zip fly and an elasticated waistband. Fit is just a bit relaxed, the sort of thing that can integrate well with other Comme des Garcons or Yohji Yamamoto pieces.

Miyake pieces are pretty hard to come by these days. It’s a virtue of Miyake, much like a lot of Yohji and CDG, this piece can easily fit in to a contemporary wardrobe. It can be a bit dressy, but at the same time in no way boring. Miyake pieces are always produced in limited quantities and are ridiculously expensive at retail, but get it here at a very reasonable price.

Size is labeled a 2. There is some stretch on the waistband as noted, where unstretched I measure the waist at 32” / 84cm (it should be able to stretch up to about 34”), inseam at 27” / 69cm, rise at 10.5” / 27cm and leg opening at 8” / 20cm. The pants come in used, generally good shape. There is some wear, including an abrasion near the crotch area, a small stain near the left side pocket, and some fading on the knees and rear. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
