Up for sale here is a jacket from John Undercover. John Undercover was a sub-line of Jun Takahashi’s Undercover label. It ran for several years alongside the Sue Undercover label as a sort of diffusion line. Quality was in no way compromised with John Undercover, it was just another facet of Jun Takahashi’s vision, punk-inspired with sharp tailoring and unique detailing.
John Undercover tends to emphasize a patchwork-style approach, often layering fabrics with contrasting colors together, and that’s what you get here. There are several different fabrics used here, where the body is a solid black 80% wool, 20% nylon blend. Sleeves are 100% wool in a complimentary plaid pattern. Hood is nylon in an olive green. Interior is fully lined, where the body is done in a multicolor polyester fleece, sleeves are lined in polyester, and the jacket is insulated in the sleeves and hood in polyester. Pockets are also lined in fleece, which makes for a very comfortable experience with your hands, and there is a half zip detail along the neckline.
Silhouette seems to be based on the classic coach jacket, although quite a bit of the design has been turned on its head. Between the fleece lining and polyester insulation, this is a pretty warm jacket, ideal for the winter season. These jackets retailed at approx. $680 in Japan and were not available abroad at all. UC rarely reproduce their designs as well, and this particular one is now long gone. Get it here at a fraction of the retail.
Size is labeled a 2 and fits a standard medium well. I measure the chest at 22”, shoulders at 17”, length at 27” and sleeves at 25” from the shoulder. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape. There is some minor piling throughout, but otherwise no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
