Corona jeans cotton outdoor jacket, made in Japan, size M

$49.99

A pretty rare piece for sale here from one of Japan’s smaller vintage-inspired labels. Not only is there a pretty large range of labels in Japan that look to vintage Americana for their inspiration, but they often specialize even further than that. The Real McCoys, for example, have a number of sub lines that explore different branches of vintage clothing (Buco for bike wear, 8 Hour Union for work wear, Ball Park for sportswear, etc.), the Flat Head often go for 50s-era rock-n-roll, Buzz Rickson for military wear, and so on. Another facet of this movement is in looking at vintage outdoors wear, which is where Corona comes in. There are a few other labels that do something similar, perhaps most notably a label called Colimbo, in that they aim to create extremely functional outdoors wear, looking primarily at vintage pieces for inspiration.

As you might expect with outdoors-looking pieces, their jackets are often very strong and tend to be at the center the collections for labels like Corona. Still, they also make a full line, with the quality excellent all around and the attention to detail easily rivaling any of the bigger labels.

In this case we have a jacket that seems to be inspired by vintage hunting jackets but is still its own unique thing. Fabric is 100% cotton in a sort of khaki-olive color. This is a fairly light weight fabric, ideal for the fall and spring seasons. Silhouette is partly based on the classic coverall or blazer with a three button closure and a clean design for the most part. The hunting details come in when you look closer. The biggest twist here is with the interior, where on first glance the jacket looks to be lined in the front sections in a cotton chambray. This lining has a slotted opening, allowing you to use the interior section as a giant pocket. You can store pretty much whatever you want inside of the jacket which makes for a lot of convenience. Other hunting jacket-inspired details include reinforced shoulders, ventilation holes, and gusseted underarms allowing for additional flexibility when worn.

This is definitely a unique piece, something that you don’t typically come across and are not very likely to find again anytime soon. Like many similarly-minded labels, Corona can be pretty hard to track down, especially outside of Japan. Retail in Japan was about $300, but get it here in very good shape and at a much more reasonable price.

Size is labeled a medium and fits true. I measure the chest at 21” / 54cm, shoulders at 17” / 43cm, length at 27.5” / 70cm and sleeves at 24” / 60cm from the shoulder. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
