Up for sale here is a cotton coverall jacket from 45 rpm. 45 rpm is well regarded for their emphasis on top quality materials and detailing. They are one of the earliest “American casual” labels to come out of Japan and are still going strong. They’re also somewhat unique in that their products are only available directly from their shops. Retail prices are sky high, but you can be sure you are getting a very high quality product for those high prices.
As always, 45 rpm’s use of quality materials and attention to detail are on full display here. Silhouette is based on the classic coverall, a somewhat casual take on the blazer. Fabric is a standard weight, given a unique and somewhat uneven texture based on the weave. The jacket is unlined, making it ideal for the warmer months. The details are of course there but aren’t the type that scream for attention. Still, just looking at the jacket you can tell this is a quality piece. Front has four button closure using quality corozo nut buttons. Side pockets are large and reinforced at the seams. There is also an interior pocket, and neckline has an embroidered tag.
These jackets were produced in very limited quantities and are now totally sold out. They retailed at about $700 outside of Japan, although you can get it here much more reasonably.
Size is labeled a 3 and fits a standard medium well. I measure the chest at 21” / 53cm, shoulders at 19” / 48cm, length at 29” / 73cm, and sleeves at 25” / 61cm from the shoulder. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
