For sale here is a shirt from the Labo Art label. Labo Art is a smaller-scale Italian label, founded in 2006 by Ludovica Diligu. Born into a family of architects, Diligu grounds her designs in the study of geometry, lines, and volume. Her garments are often described as "wearable architecture." The brand offers minimalist, elegant, and essential styles, crafted in Italy using high-quality materials and featuring beautiful color palettes that change with the seasons.
This particular model is called the “Dakka-Willow” shirt, coming in a fairly light weight cotton fabric dyed khaki. It features a banded collar with complimentary corozo nut buttons used throughout, buttoning down about halfway. Aside from the really excellent fabric and dye, the tailoring is also really excellent here. There is some really nice bunching on the front with the button placket, some interesting cuff details, and also unique construction on the rear shoulder seams. It all combines for an excellent fit, where you can easily wear this one tucked or untucked according to your preference. To me the design references the classic European minimalists like Helmut Lang and Jil Sander, with a bit Issey Miyake thrown into the mix with this shirt.
Labo Art is one of those labels that largely flies under the radar but at the same time has slowly gathered a cult following. Availability in Europe and Japan is limited and retail prices are in no way cheap, but get a very cool piece here at a fraction of the retail price.
Size is unlabeled as far as I can tell but this fits a standard medium well. I measure the chest at 21” / 53cm, shoulders at 17” / 43cm, length at 27” / 69cm in front and 28.5” / 72cm in back, and sleeves at 25” / 64cm from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape. There is a small stain on the inside of the right sleeve (pictured) otherwise no holes, tears or stains. Made in Italy.
