Jacket from Lad Musician for sale here. Lad Musician is one of Japan’s somewhat more avant-garde labels, where their main focus is on a fusion of clothing and music. Colors are usually blacks, grays and whites, with a generally slim silhouette and strong lines. Lad Musician draw a lot of inspiration from classic and contemporary rock music, aiming to keep a generally minimalistic aesthetic. They’ve been going since 1995, although they seem to have almost no international distribution as far as I can tell. Still, they have garnered a pretty strong cult following both in Japan and abroad.
In this case we have a two-tone parka in nylon. This is a 100% nylon fabric, done in a light weight. This is a good transitional weather piece, one of those jackets that is easily packed (and won’t get wrinkled) and you can throw it on without much trouble. Fabric is naturally water resistant and with the weight is ideal for warmer weather and the transitional seasons.
Details are pretty straightforward in this case, where Lad Musician likes to keep extraneous details to a minimum. Much like classic Jil Sander and Helmut Lang, Lad Musician is all about refining their silhouettes and keeping the essential essence of their clothing. Here we have a large center zip that goes up to the neck, zipped side pockets and elasticated cuffs. Quality is of course excellent. Retail on these kinds of jackets from Lad Musician is currently about $300 in Japan, going for more abroad if you can find them. Lad Musician have developed a strong cult following in Japan, and this sort of piece speaks to their strengths: a sharply tailored minimalist design in super high quality execution.
Size is labeled 46, fitting a standard medium well. I measure the chest at 21”, and length at 26”. Sleeves are raglan which makes exact shoulder and arm measurements difficult, but I measure the shoulders at approx. 18” and sleeves at approx. 25”. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
