Up for sale here is a shirt from the Real McCoys label, arguably one of the best “American casual” brands out there. They run a number of sub lines each with a different focus, where Ballpark reproduces vintage style sportswear, Double Diamond goes for pre-war workwear, and Buco looks to vintage motorcycle wear. The Real McCoys main line, however, goes for military reproductions. Their repros are really some of the best out there, both in terms of crazy, meticulous attention to detail, as well as the excellent quality throughout. Real McCoys products are often better than the originals.
In this case we have the McCoys version of the classic military utility shirt. These are part of the N3 range, which also included jackets and pants. Color is a military green, with a Naval Clothing Factory neck label, side gussets, some information stamped on the interior neck, and additional McCoys tags on the interior. All McCoys pieces are made with an obsessive level of detail, and much like original issue (or perhaps even better), these are made to take a beating and will only get better with age.
Material is a fairly weight cotton knit, definitely high quality. This is the sort of timeless design McCoys specializes in. Others may do the same sort of thing, but very, very few do it better. This particular model has a sort of washed out, pleasantly uneven color, only the sort of thing that comes with use. Retail on these pieces is currently about $200 in Japan (more abroad). Get it here at the cheapest price you will find it around.
Size is unlabeled as far as I can tell, but should work well for a medium. I measure the chest at 19.5” / 50cm, shoulders at 17” / 43cm, and length at 25.5” / 65cm in front and 26.5” / 68cm in back, and sleeves at 24.5” / 62cm from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape. There is some fading to the fabric as noted, but otherwise no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
