Uru Japan Kazuyuki Kumagai wool gabardine pants, size 3 (M)

$34.99

Up for sale here is a pair of pants from the Uru label. Uru is a somewhat smaller-scale Japanese brand. They do not have any international distribution that I am aware of, making them largely unknown outside of Japan. Still, like many such labels they are well worth checking out. Quality is always excellent, with creative and intelligent designs.

These pants come from Uru’s 2016aw collection. They are a sort of cross between woolen gabardine slacks and what a lot of labels like to call “easy pants” here in Japan – pants with an elasticated waistband, meant to be worn casually. The execution is actually very similar to what Yohji Yamamoto does with his pants actually, with a very comfortable, low-fuss fabric in a year-round weight with an excellent drape. The only difference is Uru’s pants fit slimmer than Yohji’s.

Fabric here is an 80% wool, 20% rayon blend giving the material a very soft hand. The fabric is definitely the main draw here, and if you are a fan of Yohji’s signature gabardine there is plenty to like here. Waistband is solid, where there is no button in this case but they can be pulled up or down. There is also a zip fly, coin pocket on the front for a nice visual accent and two rear pockets. Fit is on the slimmer side.

Uru is one of those brands that you pretty much never come across outside of Japan. They have a cult following and continue to release some really interesting, high quality designs. Get a rare piece here at the cheapest price around.

Size is labeled a 3, fitting a 34 inch waist well. I measure the waist at 34”, inseam at 26”, rise at 11” and leg opening at 7”. The pants come in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
