Bedwin and the Heartbreakers “almost blue” shirt, size 2 (S/M)

$34.99

Up for sale here is a shirt from the Bedwin & the Heartbreakers label, one of the perhaps better known streetwear labels operating in Japan at the moment, although they don’t seem to have a huge level of distribution outside of Japan. That’s a bit unfortunate, as Bedwin are always ones to keep things interesting with subtle tweaks to otherwise classic design and with very high standards of quality. They remind me a bit of the Nonnative label in that way, although Bedwin arguably tend to incorporate more unique little details than Nonnative.

In this case we have a summer weight button down shirt in cotton. Design seems to be pretty classic, although there are a number of nice little details. For one, the neck tag has a second tag saying “Almost Blue”. In recent years Bedwin has been adding these tags, referencing different songs that have inspired the collection. This one seems to be a reference to the classic Elvis Costello song and album from 1981, a somewhat overlooked album of country music covers.

This shirt seems to me to evoke classic Elvis Costello, with a nice white flower motif on a navy blue background. Buttons are all white, with the bottom button being metal with a “No. 2” engraving on it. Neckline has several tags, there is an additional tag on the bottom left side, as well as white tabs added onto the sides.

Like most Bedwin pieces, these shirts were produced in limited quantities with almost no availability outside of Japan. Retail was about $150 in Japan and would have cost even more abroad if you could find it. Get it here much more reasonably.

Size is labeled a 2 and fits between a small and a medium in my opinion, like a somewhat loose small or a slim medium. I measure the chest at 20”, shoulders at 17 and length at 26” in front and 28” in back. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
