Comme des Garcons Homme 2014 multi stripe button down shirt, size M

$49.99

Up for sale here is a classic piece from Comme des Garcons, this one from their Homme line. Comme des Garcons is one of the original and most influential Japanese avant-garde labels, dating back to the 1970s. At this point they have established a universe of labels, including Homme Plus, Junya Watanabe, Play, Evergreen, Black, Shirt, and quite a few more. Each has their own particular emphasis, where the Homme line is also designed by Junya Watanabe and tends to take a similar patchwork approach to their designs.

What we have here is CDG’s take on the classic striped button down shirt, filtered through their patchwork aesthetic. Front has a blue and white striped pattern and features nicely contrasting red stitching throughout. The big twist comes in the back of the shirt, which uses a more narrow striped pattern in the same color. It is one of those classic Comme des Garcons twists, something that sets it apart from the pack and immediately identifies it as a CDG piece, at least for those in the know.

Aside from the fabric, the shirt has a lot of classic detailing. Construction is solid throughout and the shirt likewise uses a very high quality weave. It also features side gussets, chain stitching throughout, chain stitch runoff on the sides, and even a pen slot incorporated into the chest pocket.

This particular shirt comes from the 2014 collection and retailed for about $200 in Japan alone. Like most Comme des Garcons, availability outside of Japan was extremely limited and the retail price was almost double. This model is now completely sold out as well.

Size is labeled a medium and fits true. I measure the chest 20”, shoulders at 17”, length at 27.5” in front and 28.5” in back, both from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 25” from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
