Up for sale here is a classic tee from Comme des Garcons, this one from their Homme line. Comme des Garcons is one of the original and most influential Japanese avant-garde labels, dating back to the 1970s. At this point they have established a universe of labels, including Homme Plus, Junya Watanabe, Play, Evergreen, Black, Shirt, and quite a few more. Each has their own particular emphasis, where the Homme line is also designed by Junya Watanabe and tends to take a similar patchwork approach to their designs.
This is CDG’s take on the classic t-shirt, filtered through their particular aesthetic. Fabric is cotton, although there are two distinct materials involved. The base of the shirt is a solid white, while there is a navy blue paisley print on the front in the middle, as well as on the rear on the shoulders. There is also a silkscreened “HCgD” logo on the front to give it some extra detail. Comme Des Garcons is one of those labels that does not shy away from potential clashes in patterns or colors, and often embraces them.
Size is labeled a large and fits true. I measure the chest 21”, shoulders at 18”, and length at 26”. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
