Up for sale here is a pair of pants from Comme Des Garcons. This comes from their now defunct “Evergreen” line, one of their high quality collection lines, produced in extremely limited quantities and now pretty much completely unavailable. I was personally a big fan of Evergreen, as to me quality seemed even higher than most of the mainline Homme Plus stuff. The usual crazy detailing was there, but I would say a much stronger emphasis was placed on fabrics, where a lot of it was very much in the luxe territory.
Retail prices also reflected the luxe style composition. Pants were typically in the $800 range outside of Japan if you could find them. That’s pretty standard for Homme Plus these days, but I felt like it was at least a bit better value for the money.
In this case, these pants are done in a 100% cotton twill. A cotton twill is a highly textured weave, normally done vertically up and down. The twist here is that the twill is on the diagonal. You definitely do not come across a diagonal weave very often, but this is where CDG differentiates themselves. Other details include a zip fly, waistband button, diagonal side pockets and rear pockets in a standard formation. These Evergreen pieces are exceedingly rare, but get it here at the cheapest price around.
Size is labeled a large and fits a 34 inch waist well. I measure the waist at 34”, inseam at 32”, rise at 10.5” and leg opening at 8.25”. This is a straight leg fit, walking the line between slim and loose where this is right in the middle. The pants come in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
