Up for sale here is a shirt from the Comme des Garcons Shirt line. Comme des Garcons is one of Japan’s original avant-garde labels, along with Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto, and arguably the best-known. At this point they’ve really cemented their reputation and have a whole universe of sub labels including Homme, Homme Plus, Junya Watanabe, Play, Black, CDG, etc. The Shirt line has been going for quite a while now. It differentiates itself in that they concentrate primarily on shirts, as the name implies.
In this case we have another pretty unique take on the tee. Fabric is 100% cotton in a standard weight and gray knit. The twist comes with the incorporation of a hood and drawstrings on the shirt. You don’t normally see a hood on t-shirts, and that’s where CDG change things up a bit. This is practical and makes for a nice layering piece as well. CDG always has a great graphic sensibility, and while the design is pretty simple in this case they still keep it interesting. CDG is one of those flagship avant garde labels in Japan, and while they do have some international distribution retail never comes cheap.
Size is labeled a large and fits slim, more like a standard medium. I measure the chest at 19”, shoulders at 17”, and length at 28”. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears, stains or visible signs of wear.
