Up for sale here is a polo from the Comme des Garcons Play line. Comme des Garcons is one of Japan’s original avant-garde labels, along with Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto, and arguably the best-known. At this point they’ve really cemented their reputation and have a whole universe of sub labels including Homme, Homme Plus, Junya Watanabe, Black, CDG, etc. The Play line has been going for quite a while now, differentiating itself with a stronger emphasis on graphic prints and usually incorporating an embroidered heart logo.
What we have here is one of the Play line’s signature items: a straightforward polo with the embroidered heart logo. It is a good embodiment of CDG’s aesthetics, something based on tradition and seemingly simple, with just a bit of a twist. It is a seemingly simple twist, but an effective one nonetheless. CDG’s design sensibilities are some of the best out there, and this shirt certainly does not disappoint with its quirky and creative design.
Size is labeled a medium and fits true if a bit slim. I measure the chest at 19.5”, shoulders at 18”, and length at 24” in front and 25” in back, both from the base of the neck. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
