Cosmic wonder light source cotton summer weight pea coat jacket, size 4 (M)

$34.99

Jacket from the Cosmic Wonder light source label for sale here. Cosmic Wonder is one of those conceptual Japanese avant garde labels, always unique and creative, always trying something just a bit different and pushing the boundaries. Like many such labels, Cosmic Wonder keeps a small and somewhat confounding presence. They have a number of sub labels such as Cosmic Wonder Jeans, Freedom Leaf, Light Lodge, Solar Garden, and probably several others. Still, the quality and details are always there, and if you want something just a bit different they’re always worth checking out.

In this case we have Cosmic Wonder’s take on the classic pea coat. The silhouette has been kept the same for the most part, although slimmed down a bit, but the colors and some of the details have been switched around. Fabric is cotton, fairly light weight, making this a good warmer weather piece. Design seems to be pretty strongly inspired by vintage “ivy” style, something pretty popular in Japan, although filtered through more of an avant garde perspective here.

One of the more obvious twists is in the color scheme. Pea coats are typically done in navy or black, usually in a wool fabric. Cosmic Wonder have opted here for a cotton khaki, and the Light Source line usually goes with lighter colors, often khakis, whites and tans. The lighter coloring is contrasted by engraved brass buttons on the front and the cuffs. There are also two semi-hidden side pockets on the jacket, and a somewhat unique pattern on both the front and back.

Cosmic Wonder is one of those labels that has limited distribution even in Japan, and is available only from a handful of specialty shops abroad. Their pieces can be very pricey, where these jackets retail at about $300 in Japan, and even more abroad if you can find them. Get one here much more reasonably.

Size is labeled a 4, equivalent to a standard medium. I measure the chest at 20”, shoulders at 17”, length at 29” from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 24” from the shoulder. The jacket comes in lightly used, very god shape with no holes, tears or visible signs of wear. Only issue to note is the interior materials tag seems to be missing. Otherwise no problems at all. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
