Engineered Garments cardigan for sale here. Engineered Garments, designed by Daiki Suzuki and under the umbrella of Japanese company Nepenthes, manufactures their products exclusively in the United States, and almost entirely in New York City. Part of their design ethos is to utilize some of the high quality materials and services available in the city and to keep their factories going. EG started before the current minor resurgence of American-made products and really continues to push things forward. One of their other main ideals is to update classic workwear pieces with a more modern approach. That’s often manifested in high quality materials, and sometimes more fashion-forward designs as well.

What we have here is a pretty classic cardigan silhouette, a bit relaxed in fit, with a pretty crazy fabric execution. The tag lists the fabric as 100% cotton, but as you can see in the pics there are three different fabrics used here in a patchwork style execution. That is, there is a striped black and white fabric, a solid gray, and a gray and white knit cotton jacquard. The twist here is definitely with the fabric combination. Engineered Garments often like to go for solid, understated design, but they occasionally go for these more attention grabbing patterns.

As always with EG, quality is excellent here and design is nothing if not inventive. Front pockets are also reinforced on the interior, and the usual array of tags on the interior. It should also be noted that the neck and interior tags are EG’s most recent, denoting this as a newer piece.

Size is labeled a medium and fits a bit relaxed. I measure the chest at 21”, shoulders at 18”, length at 26” from the base of the neck and sleeves at 27” from the shoulders. The sweater comes in lightly used, excellent shape with no holes, tears, stains or visible signs of wear. Made in the USA.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $26.
