John Undercover 2019aw undercoverism rayon plaid shirt, size 3 (M)

$49.99

Up for sale here is a shirt from John Undercover, this one from the fall-winter 2019 collection. John Undercover is a sub-line of Jun Takahashi’s Undercover label. JUC, along with the ladies’ Sue Undercover label, are sort of between the main line collection and their “basics” line. Designs certainly are not basic and quality is in no way sacrificed, although some of the detailing may not be quite as crazy as the UC main line. I would say the line is comparable to Julius MA and Julius: that is, maybe somewhat simplified design but in no way cheap or compromised.

The John Undercover line started with the fall-winter 2013 collection, was only available in Japan, and as far as I can tell is no longer active. That being the case, this shirt is likely from one of the last JUC collections. JUC tends to emphasize a patchwork-style approach, often layering fabrics with contrasting colors together, and that’s what you get here. The main fabric is a 58% cotton, 42% rayon fabric. Rayon is normally a fairly light weight material, and paired with the cotton content makes for a medium weight fabric with a very soft hand feel. Shoulder area on the rear is done in a solid black cupro, making for a nice little contrast. Other more subtle details include hand stitching on the collar and pocket area, and matching black cupro on a part of the cuffs. The overall look is fairly classic here, the details are very much in the Undercover vein. Undercover tailoring is always very strong and highly underrated, this shirt being no exception.

Size is labeled a 3 and fits like a standard medium in my opinion. I measure the chest at 20.5”, shoulders at 19”, length at 28” and sleeves at 25” from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, excellent shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
