Kapital japan plaid shirt with collar detail, size 2 (fits M)

$44.99 / Sold Out

Up for sale here is a shirt from Japan’s Kapital label, one of a number of Japanese brands strongly influenced by American design and culture. Kapital are a bit different in that they have a very strong indigo influence for one, but also because some of their designs are a bit more “out there” than some of their contemporaries. They’re not a strictly work wear or vintage reproduction brand, but use those tried and true silhouettes as a starting point and really do their own thing on top of that, offering in many cases pretty radical reinterpretations of work and vintage clothing.

In this case we have Kapital’s interpretation of the classic plaid shirt. Materials are excellent as you would expect, where you’ve got a very fine knit 100% cotton fabric. This is a fairly light weight material in my opinion, ideal for the warmer weather. Texture is pleasantly uneven throughout. You can expect with Kapital that you are getting a quality piece using some of the best materials available. Kapital pieces always age well, and this one is no exception.

Materials aside, there are some interesting details with this piece. Most obvious, perhaps, is the collar and neck detail. Rather than a traditional button down, Kapital have made a sort v-neck style opening. They have also kept the collar, but reduced its size considerably. It’s definitely one of those unique details that Kapital is known for. Kapital often runs a pretty wide gamut of inspiration, where they are equally inclined to produce some very traditional leaning denim pieces, as they are to release some kind of crazy oversized hippy patchwork sort of thing. This shirt falls somewhere in the middle, where you’ve got a more traditional silhouette, but somewhat tongue in cheek detailing. Retail on these pieces is around $200 in Japan, more abroad, although this model is now completely sold out. Get it here in excellent shape and at a fraction of the retail.

Size is labeled a 2/M and fits like a standard medium in my opinion. I measure the chest at 20”, shoulders at 17”, length at 27” in front and 30” in back, both from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 24” form the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, excellent shape, with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
